Here in 3rd grade in Texas, equivalent fractions cover a few different things: Fractions with denominators of 2,3,4,6,8 Those fractions are represented with pictorial models, number lines, and objects. Congruent areas are important when comparing fractions. Here's a great explanation of how we introduce them! So, if you are like me and are a Fraction Phobic, this will really help!
